Petrichor Training Solutions receives a lot of phone calls from potential clients and the conversation usually goes something like this:

“Hi, Leah, I need a CPR class.”

I reply, “ok, which program do you need, lay responder or healthcare provider?”

“I don’t know.”

I ask, “what type of industry to do you work in? What is your profession?”

“I’m going to be a nursing assistant,” client responds.

After completing an obligatory 20-questions with the potential client it is determined that they likely need Basic Life Support for the Provider (BLS). Petrichor Training Solutions offers both American Heart Association (AHA) and American Red Cross (ARC) BLS programs; which are nationally recognized. The AHA BLS course is most widely accepted by hospitals throughout the Puget Sound. The updated 2015 ARC curriculum is very similar to the AHA course.

The Basic Life Support for the Provider (BLS) course is the standard level of certification for healthcare professionals. This professional group ranges from hospital emergency room staff to caregivers. The BLS course includes Adult & Pediatric CPR, use of an AED, use of a bag-valve mask, and the classroom or skills sessions include single-rescuer and multiple-dynamic skill scenarios. Additional topics include advanced airway, choking, rescue-breathing and more.

Here is a general outline for the AHA BLS course:

The AHA BLS course requires hands-on skills intended to reinforce participant knowledge and experience. Participants will work with an experienced instructor to practice their skills in a safe, supportive and structured classroom experience. We offer three different options for BLS certifications: Initial, Renewal and Blended-Learning.

Non-healthcare professionals likely need the lay responder CPR/AED courses and there are many options for courses through Petrichor Training Solutions. Petrichor Training Solutions only offers nationally recognized training programs through American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI), and American CPR Training (ACT) programs.

Most CPR include skills practice in compressions, breaths (including use of a pocket mask), scene assessment, choking and most of our courses include AED components. Courses can be combined or compartmentalized to meet the needs of a company or individual. Some combinations include:
